Munawar says that my mother has been a victim of domestic violence since my memory. She was mentally and physically tortured, but she tolerated everything for her children. In the riots that took place in Gujarat in the year 2002, many people were killed and many houses were destroyed.

One of those houses was Munawar also had the same problem because his house was burnt. Munawar used to live in a big joint family, so he himself tells that at the age of six or seven he was also a victim of sexual abuse, that too by someone close.

Munawar Mother Suicide

Munawar’s mother struggled a lot, she was very strong, but in the year 2007, Munawar’s mother’s courage gave up and she decided to commit suicide. This is from the year 2000. Munawar tells that usually I used to lie down near my mother, but that day I lay down near my grandmother. In the morning, Munawar’s grandmother woke Munawar up and said that something has happened to your mother, she has been taken to the hospital. Hearing this, Munawar reached the hospital and saw that his mother was screaming. Munawar asked the family members what has happened, then they said that it is stomach ache, it is too late. Mother’s health was deteriorating and she fainted.

At that time Munawar realized that it was not stomach ache. He asked the family members to tell the truth, what has happened, then they said It was said that your mother has consumed acid but you should not tell this or else we will get into trouble. Munawar immediately told this to the doctor. The doctor said why did you not tell earlier. Friends, by the time Munawar told, it was too late and Munawar’s mother died.

That day was a day that Munawar will never forget. He used to sleep near his mother but that day he slept near his grandmother. If he had not done so, he would have known that his mother had consumed acid and he would have saved his mother. Munawar is still hurt by this thing that why did he stay away from his mother that night. After his mother’s death, when her post-mortem was done, it was found that she had not eaten food for 12 days. 

Munawar Faruqui Struggle Time 

During these days, one of Munawar’s sisters had eloped and got married. So, the family members held Munawar’s mother responsible for this too and used to say nonsense everyday. There was this pressure on him and there were many other tensions too and the biggest problem was that his mother had taken Rs 100 from someone for which he was not able to take money. He used to come every other day and abuse his mother. When all this became unbearable for her, she committed suicide. A few years later, when Munawar grew up, he was married off.

His wife’s name is Jasmine. Munawar was not even mature enough for marriage, when he was married off. Due to this, he could never get into that relationship and his and his wife’s relationship never went well. After the death of Munawar’s mother, his father brought Munawar and his sisters from Junagadh to Dongri, Mumbai and started living there. Only a little time had passed when his father’s health deteriorated and he stopped working.

After this, Munawar Faruqui started working. Sometimes he worked as a salesman and sometimes as a waiter. He used to run his household expenses with these jobs.
